What We Believe
For a complete Doctrinal Statement see the Baptist Faith and Message, however, here is a brief description of what we believe:
The Bible is the Word of God. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth for its matter. It has been preserved by God and is His standard for every age and every life.
There is one and only one living and true God. The eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He taught and did mighty works exactly as revealed in the four gospels. He was crucified, died as a penalty for our sins, and was bodily raised from the dead on the third day. He ascended to the Father’s right hand where He is head of the Church and intercedes for believers. He is coming again for His Church on a day known only to the Father.
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He exalts Christ, convicts of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. His presence in the Christian is the assurance of God to bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.
